Cold Air Intake?

Post by driftandrally616 »

Now I may be slightly new to carburetor business, but on my other car(EFI), my cold air intake takes cold air from outside of the engine bay into the engine. It makes an awesome noise after the injectors catch up, but with the aftermarket air cleaners for carbs, don't they simply take in the hot air that's around the engine? On my '79, I have the stock intake routing that goes to the front of the car somewhere, and it takes in cold air. I'll even attach a picture, pictures are good! I've removed the hot air valve thing, and my question is, why do the aftermarket air cleaners make a louder sound than mine? I want to keep the routing, but I don't know if it is the stock air cleaner itself that is bad for air flow. I haven't searched for this, I am sorry, but enough people have done it where they can tell me the reason hopefully. Thanks,

and here,

Not sure about the cold air intake, but watch your wire from the dist. Looks close to the manifold. I've cooked one...car comes to a stop real quick. Perhaps the shield is cool enough, just wanted to let you know. :)
