Popping noise

I was driving down the highway today, in fifth, around 60 or so, and heard a loud pop from the passenger side. A few miles down the road it occurred once more, but I didn't hear it at all after, not even on the way back.

I inspected the undercarriage briefly, and all I saw was a bit of oil dripping from someplace, (which is fairly normal.

) but the oil was hitting the exhaust pipe.

Any helpful thoughts on unusual popping sounds from under the car?

Same thing happened to me. Check the flex-disc on the drive shaft for missing chunks of rubber.

Yep, missing chunk of rubber.

IAP has flex joints at an ok price, but how hard are they to replace?

Also, I had a flat today, and the stupid spare doesn't work with the lug nuts I've got. Fun times.

They are not difficult to do. Leave the band that retains it on untill its installed.If a flex-disc fails, the damage caused could be extensive!

Dont drive your car until you fix the flex donut, the failure of it can be catastrophic...and I mean it.

check the condition of the center support bearing while you are down there.

And since you're down there, check your tranny mount. Oil leaking from the engine will eat the rubber up.
