Supreme Court gives stay on Chrysler-Fiat deal

Post by pope »

The court has issued a stay on the deal till it figures out what it will do with the complaint of the pension funds not getting the money first as secured creditors.

Good move. Even though I want to see Fiat back in the US, I don't want the courts or anyone else jumping on others' rights.

Agreed. I want to see Fiat back too, but upholding the rule of law is more important to our economic recovery.

Let's just hope that the new judges uphold the rule of law instead of "personal preferences based on unique life experiences"

I'll bet some creditors at GM are munching at the bit to see what happens here!

I'm anxious to see what happens too. This is better than a soap opera.

The stay was lifted this morning and a deal is expected to be signed today. Good for Fiat-Chrysler, but bad news for secured creditors everywhere!

Denise - we'll have to arm wrestle to see who is first in line for that Abarth SS! How about you let me be first in line, and will tune your IDFs forever? 8)

Are you forgetting you taught me how to tune my own IDFs Jeff? Looks like I'll be training for an arm wrestling competition.

I was afraid you'd say that! Guess I"ll have to start hoisting more pints to get ready. Seriously - I am going to my local Chrysler dealership (which I already visited with my spider), and insist they start a list! Anybody heard anything more about FIAT homolgating the 500 and bringing it in directly from Italy much sooner that the 18 months we keep hearing about?
