Not sure what the problem is so I'm turning to you guys for help.
When I start my 82 spider cold, I notice white smoke coming out of the exhaust, also a little oil (I'm thinking it's oil, has the same feel but could also be coolant), eventualy the smoke goes away once I drive the car. My temp holds steady at 190 but i did notice a drop in coolant (took a measurement form the tank, next day noticed it dropped about an inch but doesn't drop any further)
Any idea as to what this could problem is......
White smoke?
Re: White smoke?
it depends on whether you're seeing smoke or steam. The level in the reservolr will go up and down as coolant moves back and forth from the radiator. Oil smoke when you first start is a sign of worn valve seals or guides. Steam usually won't occur immediately, since the exhaust isn't hot enough to create steam. A sign of leaking head gasket is a misfire when the engine is first started, since there is coolant in the cylinder.
