I have tried everything and I still can not get fuel to pass through the carb jets. A friend told me it could be that the needle could be stuck and I need to take the top off the carb. I know nothing about carb's. How hard is this to do?

No fuel
Re: No fuel
isn't it a brand new carb? Usually you only have floats sticking if gas has been allowed to turn to varnish inside the carb. If you don't know anything about carbs, I wouldn't suggust you disassemble it. Try tapping on the top of the carb with a screwdriver just above the fuel inlet. Next step would be to blow down through the air bleeds with compressed air or carb spray with a small nozzle
Re: No fuel
The carb is new. However, the last owner put the carb on and was tuning it when he got sick and pasted away. The carb has been setting for about 3 years.
Re: No fuel
since it sat that long with fuel, it could have a stuck needle valve. I'd suggest you remove the fuel hose from the carb and spray some carb cleaner in the nipple while tapping on the top of the carb. I'd also spray down the air bleeds
Re: No fuel
Ok...I finally got back to my car and I have fuel to the carb. Thanks So Cal Mark.
I got the engine as close to starting without actual running. As soon as, I take my foot off the gas the engine stops wanting to start and the carb backfires, any ideas?
