Swappining 1608 for 1800

Post by chr535is »

The 1608 block in my 72 spider will cost more to repair than purchasing an 1800 and rebuilding it. When making this engine swap, what will I need to alter? Cross member?, hood? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

no mods really needed for that swap. As long as your tranny has the large bellhousing you're good to go

I'm hearing more that it will just drop right in w/o the valve covers hitting the underside of the hood. A couple of people have said that the 1800 is a taller engine and I will have problems. Thanks

The 2.0L is a taller engine. You are good if you have the larger bell housing.
