Chinese Fiats

Fiat exec Marchionne signed an agreement with Guangzhou Automobile Group to produce cars in a joint venture beginning in the second half of 2011 as the Italian automaker seeks to expand its position in the growing Chinese market.
The joint venture plans to produce the Linea sedan as well as two engines in China. The plant will produce 140,000 and 220,000 engines a year.

All companies that want to manufacture products in China MUST be a 50/50 joint venture with the Chinese government. They then use the technology that you bring and incorporate it into their other companies to shorten their development costs. Its legal espionage. Companies figure its the price of doing business in China. 50% of the profits, and trade secrets is kind of a high cost of doing business.
