Where do I get a "good "thermostat?

I noticed a few drops of coolant on the driveway an slightly higher than normal coolant temp. I checked the usual suspects: hoses, pile at w/p etc, all fine. Oh, nice my year old Behr thermostat is leakink at the seam! I see Val D. @ Performance Fiat sells a different style t-stat, has anybody used it or know where to get a "good" one? I guess I'll try to seal the seam with epoxy for now and next weeks trip to Oregon, but I don't want to deal with anymore crap parts.

I put on a lot of Behr stats and have never had one leak. Maybe you have electrolysis occuring in your cooling system

It seems like I remember someone complaining about the Behr, and saying something else was better, but that's about all I remember. I don't think it's electrolysis, everything looks new, including the inside of the stat. There is a crimped seam with a little silicone seeping out and that's where it's leaking. I cleaned it up and JB Welded it, so we'll see.

We used to get Savara stats, but Behr has been the only brand supplied to us for awhile now.

I used a new thermostat from IAP which may be a Behr (it's not marked but looks like their illustration) but I wasn't happy with the operating temperature being close to 200 F. I put back the OEM Savara, which tested OK in hot water, and the temp is back down below 190. From their sketch it looks like Bayless may have had the Savara, but it might take a while to find out.

Yah, I looked at that and can't understand the design from the picture. And there's no brand name or picture in Vick's catalogue - maybe you should phone them. If it's of any comfort, the guys on Ferrarichat have the same problem According to them, Savara's out of business.

Peter, how come your Ferrari isn't listed at the bottom of your posts?

Ha ha - in my dreams I Googled Savara and wound up there. Actually a friend owns a nice 328, but the more I learn about the maintenance costs, the less I would want one. Like $10,000 to replace a clutch every few years!
