where to start?
Re: where to start?
i do not have any electrical sensors or connections in my intake manifold anywhere. i definitely have dual points, though. Could the sensor be somewhere else on an early car?

Speaking of points, have you checked the gap of yours lately? You can rig up a pressure gauge to check what your mechanical fuel pump is pumping to see if it's starting to fail. When mine went out, it was hard to start, spit and sputtered and fouled the plugs.

Re: where to start?
how much pressure should it be showing? the pump only has about 2k miles on it, but i'll still check it. also, i adjusted the points a couple of days ago.

Mine show 5 lbs at idle and up to 7 lbs at higher rpms, while driving.

Re: where to start?
You have to feel underneath the manifold as you cannot see them from the top. There will be two of them if I remember. The one closest to the bottom outside was the one i disconnected.
Re: where to start?
ok... fuel pressure is good, float level is good.
i do have some more information if it helps... when choke is disengaged and it's idling normally, if i gently give it throttle, it accelerates as it should, but if i push the pedal too fast it hesitates for about half a second before accelerating and usually makes the carb spit gas into the air. timing seems right, but i have noticed that adjusting the idle mixture screw does nothing whatsoever.
yet still, after about 20 minutes of running, it stumbles and dies and refuses to restart.
i am tempted to just scrap the suspect dhsa3 and bolt on a carb that isn't so insanely complex.
and for the record, my 1592 has no electrical connections on the bottom of the manifold, not a one.
