my engine won't fire
I have replaced the distributor cap and roter, checked fuel pump. Tries to start but just won't turn over. Has been sitting for 6 months (not started). Help.

is the starter turning the engine? Do you have electrical power to the coil and points?

as mark says, what exactly is happening when you turn the key? does it turn over easily and seemingly run while you are cranking? Or, does it barely turn? are you smelling gasoline after your attempted starts?
