Distributor pickup air gap.

Post by zachmac »

I am doing a general tuneup including replacing the magnetic pickup in an 80 FI spider. Can anyone tell me what the proper gap is between the pickup and the distribuotr shaft pickup points? I can't find it with a search or in any of my manuals. Is is critical or is close enough close enough? I know from past expereicne that to far away and it won't trigger.

My Clymer manual shows .012-.016 in.
A quick search in my Brooklands didn't turn up the specs. (?)
