WAKE UP, SO CAL!

Post by rlux4 »

The weather seems to be getting more bearable, the summer vacations are over, the "honey-do" lists should be completed (if not, Git er done!), so I'm thinking it's coming up on time to have a Fiat gathering. Ace and I were talking and a great idea has come up.
There is a beautiful park up near Ojai that has overnight camping. We're thinking of starting a get together on Friday evening, do a drive and a group BBQ on Saturday. The early birds could do the campout on Friday and anyone who is up for it camp on Saturday. A couple of cold ones, some Fiat BS around the campfire (assuming fires are permitted at the time). What could be better?
The timing is up in the air, we're just putting out the word to give folks a heads up on it.
If camping gear is an deal killer for anyone, let me know, I have tents and a couple of camper RVs I can make available.

I'm in. Maybe we should put together a tentative calendar for the next few months.

What a great idea! For the super ambitious, I know a good mountain bike ride and maybe some hiking trails for early Saturday or Sunday morning. Of course, we'll drive the Fiats on some twisty mountain roads. Sounds like a nice fall outing.

Hey Ron you got to remember that for many S Californians roughing it means loosing the electric blanket.

I may have to bring a generator then for the wooses, Hal. The nights get nippy up in this area. To me, that means great sleep!

Are you inviting your mountain bike riding friends, Alvon? You know, the ones you sent me a picture of? I bet that'll get some interest in your event.

Don't get me wrong Ron, the last time I counted I had more than 1 year of nights on the ground. I just don't have any equipment left. I will have to see if I can make it happen though.

Yep, Denise, if I shared those pictures, we may just see a lot of old bicycles pulled out of the dusty corners of the garage. Sorry, I can't post the picture. The young ladies in the picture were Pope's Mom's sisters, I think, and didn't give me permission to publicize the photos. Let's just say that the young ladies that we ran into last weekend while mountain biking were a sight for sore eyes. They were quite scantily clad, and were bursting at the seams of what little clothing they had on. My only regrets were that we were headed in opposite directions, as I'm sure it would have been quite entertaining to ride along with them for a spell!

Are you coming up to BFI this weekend Fonz? It's a great chance to meet a majority of the SoCal fiaters.
