Thanks to the help of Manoa Matt, my 32ADF has been completely rebuilt. Its installed on a '76 with an 1800. It's pretty much stock minus the smog devices. It does have an electric fuel pump in the trunk but I'm not sure if that's standard for the year or not.
After new plugs, points, wires, and the carb rebuild, the car runs fantastic. Except, when the secondary barrel opens. It sounds great when revving in neutral even when the second barrel opens, but on the road it simply can not get to the second barrel. It doesn't matter which gear, what speed, or anything else. It doesn't stall or backfire. It just becomes instantly flat and loses all power. As soon as you let up to the point where only the primary is open, it runs perfectly. There's almost no delay between the perfect running on the primary and the 0 power when the secondary kicks in.
I know the linkage is opening up properly because first of all, Manoa Matt did the rebuild but secondly I can see it! It seems to me the jetting must be off.
I never replaced a jet before and don't really know where to start. First of all, I'll probably need new jets which I don't know where to get them. Second, even if I did know where to get them, I'm not sure what to order. Can anyone help me through this process? Am I even on the right track by assuming it's a jetting issue?
32ADF Jetting Off?
Re: 32ADF Jetting Off?
Pete112, I would check to make certain that the passage between the secondary main jet in the float bowl and the secondary bore is clear even before worrying about the size of the jet. From your description it sounds like it is getting no fuel period. I believe that jet is supposed to be a 140 or 145. Just blow that passage out. You will be able to see the result in the secondary venturi if it is clear.
Good luck,
Jim

My recommendations exactly You'll need to remove the 6 screws that hold the cover on to get to the jets in the carb float bowl. I'll send you some pictures of what you need to do and remove to get to the jets.

strange that the jet would be completely plugged after a rebuild. For a quick check you can blow down through the air bleed. You'll see vapor and/or fuel blowing into the venturi if the passage is open.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll give it a shot as soon as I can. I didn't get a chance to this weekend. I'll try the air bleed thing first though. But Matt, if you could send those pics, that might be a big help!
