British run +one

SInce there aren't any (or many that I know of), FIAT's around here to cruise with I went an a run with the Brit's today. There were ten cars counting mine and even though it's been running great, I was afraid that I'd never hear the end of it, if I had a problem. The car ran great and I didn't have overheating issues like half of the Brit's. All in all, it was a good day, lots of waves and most of the British guys were cool, (they did look at my engine like it was a spaceship or something). I even had a Miata wave, (ya their top was up). We had breakfast, cruised thru the dairyland, thru the redwoods and finally down a very windy road to the ocean, (Shelter Cove, CA).
I didn't try to convince them Fiats were better and they were pretty easy on me, but man was in obvious how much better the Fiat was! They were revving the hell out of their cars going up hills and the 2.0 just cruised up them, while they were smoking and popping, (gotta love those SU carbs)! Oh well, lets just keep it our little secret, so the Fiats stay affordable.

Another thought I had was that our cars may be twins, but the landscape where we live is sure different. Man it's pretty up there.

We went on an outing to a car show with three MGB's last weekend, (about 150 mi round trip), but those guys drive so slow we had to blow back on our own. My buddy in his badass 427 Cobra (replica) hung for about the first five miles, then split. Are those guys afraid their pipes are going to go out if they go too fast or something?

Perhaps the 4 speed gearbox at 60 mph is such they are concerned a piston might come out the top
A friend here is modifing the bellhousing on tr's to accept an older ford mustang 5-speed.A fellow said he loves it,not original of course but the drivability factor has gone up.The engine is quieter at 60 now.
Friends electric overdrive on his tr 250 is temperamental,but he drives his over 60 mph all the time.
