low cranking power
low cranking power
So i finally got my car just about back together and go to start it up but it turns over very slowly. battery is at 11.9 volts not sure what the problem is. Could it be the starter the PO said that it had been refurbished.
Re: low cranking power
first, 11.9 is not a fully charged battery. Second, what is the voltage when cranking? You need a minimum of 9.6 under load. Third, what is the voltage at the starter terminal when cranking?
After you check all that, clean and tighten all of the connections from the battery and the starter including the ground strap that attaches to the bellhousing.
Lastly, not all rebuilt starters are equal. If yours came from a production rebuilder it may have received minimal repairs

Re: low cranking power
So i charged the battery cleaned all connections including the main grounding wire. I was about to try to start it up again then decided to switch it over to a single point system. It started up after a little distributor adjustment. Now i need to time it and spend hours and hours on the wiring, body work, interior, and paint
