Antique auto hill climb

Post by racydave »

100 years old. Antique auto hill climb. Newport IN. http://s206.photobucket.com/albums/bb180/racydave/ There are not many US auto events as old. The town my father grew up in. It was a beautifull fall weekend for a 2 hour trip in our Spider. And to make it a getaway, we stayed in the Inn at Turkey Run state park for the evening. Today we toured the park and local twistys in a hurry not to get home, but we failed  Turkey Run is my favorite spot, it's where my parents met!

There was a special on that event a year or two ago on Car Crazy. Looks like a great place and people to visit. Too bad it's so far :( Nice memories for you Dave, I can tell.

If you're busy, you must be workin! The Spider is still home, so anything is yet possible! Im going to store it at a friends soon. My main goal for this winter is to get the Fiat out in some snow, and do donuts! Peter will get his chance a little sooner.

Thanks, Dave - I'll pass. It hasn't seen snow yet and I'm not about to start. Where's Indian summer? :? We have a BBQ coming up on the 17th and these little cars have to shine!

Hey Dave,I think all us'car guys' link events or times in our lives to cars! I went out and bought the movie Gran Torino, because my dad had that car when I was a teen.I used to borrow it for dates!Any time I see a Plymouth Superbird, since my dad passed ,I think back to attending Daytona 500 with my family. In those days ,you drove up and parked, bought a ticket and went in.Didnt like your seat,no problem...move.Not any more
Believe it or not we are really busy(knocking on the desk!).Picked up a smaller remod for the next month,then..TaDa...we have a house to build. Not huge but enough to keep working thru the winter.Still a lot of people out of work up here,so we feel blessed.Every day someone stops by asking if we need help.We can at least throw some subs a little work over the winter.
I will think of you and Peter,JohnK,MikeB,Pope,narfire,etc...in January while I exercise both Spiders  Top up,heat on...of course.
