New owner and having so much fun
New owner and having so much fun
Got myself a 1978 spider back in July and saving grace it had a clean title and a up to date safety so I was able to register it under my name, no added safety needed. Been through the forum as a guest and relized we all own the same spider . Good to see a place I can go to when I want to scrap the car and then find someone who shares my same identical problems. Love my spider fun to drive when I'm not fixing it. Thanks for all the future help

Re: New owner and having so much fun
I'm from Manitoba Canada. I'd never be able to scrap my fiat. The car just needs to learn to trust me and I only want the best for it . I think fiats have a personality and once they've been misused or abused they have a hard time learning to trust again So we go forward and continue to fix what may go wrong with it. I've got all winter (9 and half months in Manitoba ) to fix it up. By the way is their anyone else from Manitoba or the other prairie provinces part of this forum?

Welcome Chico.
Sorry, not from the middle of the country, but am glad to see you have found a fiat. They can test your patience at times but when you take it for a drive, well what can we say..
Lots of parts support,I use Ital Motors in Edmonton for alot of stuff and of course the vendors below us. Now the dollar is getting better, some of those nice upgrades are looking good/affordable.
Have fun
Chris

Re: New owner and having so much fun
Wow, 9 months of winter, good thing spiders have great heat! I had to learn to trust my mechanic and
realize he only wanted the best for the car. Although the misunderstandings between the car, the mechanic
and I were plentiful at first, I came to understand we all just needed to speak the same language. Of
course, the car ALWAYS has the first word, and the last word, and I had to learn her language. Once I
began to listen to her, (with Coop translating, of course), we all got along like the family we grew to be.

Hi Chico, welcome to the forum.
Down here in southern California we also have to endure 9-1/2 months of one season. But it's the summer season, so it's OK.
Congratulations on your new car.

Hey Chico - welcome to the forum. I hope your garage is heated, so you can take advantage of all the available shop time. I'm not in the prairies, but I sympathize with you on the winter we're facing. I have an original '78 too, so let me know if I can help.

Re: New owner and having so much fun
Hi Chico,
My emails kept bouncing back - I think your email is yahoo.ca rather than yahoo.com - but gmail keeps converting to yahoo.com, so I just figured this out. Your wheels are on their way - my corporate discount with UPS saved a ton of money - you'll get the wheels this Friday, 8/5/11.
If any questions, call me at 610-451-7531.
Thanks,
Matt
