I'm Bummed!

Post by So Cal Mark »

I went to pull my Spider into the shop tonight, and discovered someone had run into the right rear corner. Hard enough impact to crunch the corner in and leave 1/2" gap on the side of the taillight. In my own parking lot no less! Between customers coming and going, neighbors' work trucks, tow trucks and deliver trucks, I have no idea who did it. Sometimes life just ain't fair! :x

Sorry to hear about the car Mark. That must have been a pretty good hit. Who ever did it probably knows they hit it. All you have to do is now is figure out who won't look you in the eye.

That stinks! Getting hit is one thing - cars are stuff and can be fixed. But to think that someone would hit your car and then just think, "oh well, sucks to be you. I'm gettin outta here while the gettin's good." That's what gets under my skin.

That's terrible, and in your own establishment. I feel your pain, the radio was stolen out of my car last week. I bought the cheapest Wal-mart radio I could find, it might as well said "maid en chine-ah" on the front. At least they had the courtesy to cut the wires neatly so I could re-crimp the ends. The thing that gets me, is that they also took about 8 books I just bought at the thrift store for $1 each. Do people like that even read books?

No those people don't read books, they put them under their shirts for "Body Armour".

Ouch! I hate to hear that! About 20 years ago I had just finished a coupe restoration and had picked it up from the paint shop to drive it home. On the way, I stopped at a Wal-Mart to buy some film so we could take some pics of that beautiful paint job. Being paranoid, I parked it WAY ouyt there where nobody would likely park and open their door and bang it. You guessed it. Came out of the store only to see that the car looked liked I had parked it an angle in the parking spot - which I knew I hadn't. Left side, behind the axle, and hard enough to bend the trunk lid! Never made it home.

A good friend of mine taught me a neat trick...when installing a third stereo into his car after the first two got taken....he decided to weld on to the back casing several fish hooks.
Sure enough his vehicle got broken into again but this time had the good fortune to hear a blood curdling scream come from his driveway. He knew in an instant what happened.
He casually put on a bathrobe, grabbed his sidearm (if needed) and walked out the front door to see a punk in some contortionist position in his vehicle with his hand 'stuck' to the back side of the stereo.

He called the police and the punk was taken away.

I have known a few people to do the same thing and it did work but one of them did get sued I think. You should be able to lawfully beat them while they are stuck to your stereo.

I know your pain. About 6 years ago when we still lived in CA and my wife's car was only 2 months old, my neighbor pulled out of his drive way went accross the street (small one lane going between townhomes) and smashed into the rear our new car. He took off. You could totally tell it was his car as he left white paint on the fender and gold paint on the bumper. Also, he had a new dent in the back of his car in just the right place. Not to mention the skid mark leaving his driveway and running right into our now smashed car. I called the police and they said unless he admits to it their is no way to prove it. Even the cop agreed he's without a doubt the guy but my neighbor said he did not do it. Nothing I could do and we had a 1000.00 deductable. It cost me 989.00 to get it fixed. Due to the fact that it was a new model, thier were no aftermarket bumpers or lights yet on the market to replace with. I had to buy new from the dealership paint and install myself. Looks pretty good but we still have a dimple in the metal to this day. I wanted to sabotage his car so bad but that would not be right. I still want to! :x

Anyway, That totally sucks about your car.

Mark, that brings back memories of your 69 spider getting beat down right in your own parking lot by your best employee. Good thing you have that guy to fix it at a reasonble price at the very least. Now answer your phone, I need a pedal.
