Could you imagine being the one video taping that car and watching it drive right into the lake?

At 1.6 mil for that Bugatti, he could have bought 356 Fiat spiders (assuming at $4,500 each) and drove almost a different one each day for almost a year... think about that! :shock:

He definately would have kept IAP, Vick's, Bruce's, and other Fiat vendors occupied for a long time on just replacement parts alone. :roll:

This was being discussed on a sailing board I frequent, much speculation there about it being an insurance job. Esp since he apparently left the motor running in the water for about 15 minutes til it died.

Leaving it running was probably a good tactic, especially if the tailpipe was under the water. If the motor is shut off, you risk water ingress into the engine through the exhaust. The driver may have thought that he could keep it running until it was pulled out of the water, and save from having more damage to the engine.

with the car submerged in salt water, it's a total loss. I guess that's a better alternative than setting it on fire out in the desert and claiming that it was stolen
