Never can be to carefull...
Never can be to carefull...
Workin on a Ford F350 today, tryin to fix the reverse lights with the key on and in reverse. Simple, I'll just jumper the power wire to the light terminal for a check at the neutral safety switch. No, Stupid! What was I thinking? The truck starts in reverse with me on a creeper. I jumpered the wrong wire. I rolled out from under, chased the truck, jumped thru the open window and slammed it in park just before the truck hit another truck. Needless to say, im just glad to still be here...

I don't know if I should Laugh or cry. I bet that scared the sh%t out of you. Your right you're lucky. I'm glad nothing happened to you. Good job on the rescue. I drive a truck to get cryogenic equipment to the hospitals to service them with liquid helium. I can feel your pain. Lessons learned don't always come the easy way. Makes you think what the h#ll was I doing.

As I was reading your thread I was thinking...hmmm, Racydave can work on Ford F350's. I might invite him and Carol down for a weekend so he can work on mine. Once I got done reading your thread, I was thinking never mind. All kidding aside, I'm glad things worked out for the best Dave. Good gracious, you could have been run over! We all need to be reminded to practice safety while working on our vehicles.

ohh, that brings back memories of an old Lincoln that pinned me between its' door and the wall of the shop when it took off backwards. I still have the dent in my lower leg where it mashed the bone

Re: Never can be to carefull...
Just goes to show, accidents can happen to anyone. When I was in college, worked at a body shop. One afternoon after my shift, I pulled my car in to change the oil. I swore it was in neutral when I reached my arm in to fire it up for a minute before topping off the oil. Unfortunately it started in gear, raced across the shop and slammed into a customer's car that the shop owner was working on at the time. No one was hurt, but needless to say, that was my last day working there.

Re: Never can be to carefull...
It is just one of thoes times when you get a reality check. I really did not want to work on this rust bucket anyway. Suppose I had a slight attitude too. I have had many dangerous jobs, and always walk away with all my fingers and toes... I'll butt in in a second when a co-worker is being stupid. Every once in a while you get a big reality check, and Its important to listen, contemplate and adjust! Ron, the first thing I was thankfull for was being nimble, as I did not have a split second to think, just react. And I was a little sore the next day... Thanks for the kind words as my ego neesd some attention
