Strange wires
Strange wires
After removing the flex disc from my 1981 2000 spider I discovered two wires going to a connector. The wires were on the bottom back end of the transmission behind the flex disc. One of the wires was severed. Can anyone tell me the function of these wires.

Re: Strange wires
Probably your back up light. Put it in reverse and see if you have a back up light. If not, hook them back up.
Re: Strange wires
I know on my 72 there is a switch on the trans under there that deals with the emmisions. What color are the wires?? Look in a wiring diagram.

Re: Strange wires
Hi,
If it's not your reverse switch, which is at the back of the gearbox, then I believe these wires are for the neutral position switch. This forms part of the emissions circuit.

Re: Strange wires
Thanks y'all. I repaired the wire. Backup like was not affected. Must have been emissions circuit.
