What do you think of this BC Coupe?

Post by launieg »

This interests me. I sure would like one. What do you think? He's asking $1200. It's a '72, runs, and has 77,000 km (roughly 51,000 miles) on it. I am also wondering how difficult it will be to find parts for it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

That car looks great Launie. I just wish it was close to me. And that I had $1200.
I like the wheels too.

I'd check everywhere on it for rust, the issues around the rear window could be a sign of big trouble underneath

Launie, is this the one in Princeton?
I'm heading to Van tomorow am. and could pop in and have a closer look if your interested.
I believe Gio at Clemente's had a fellow go up and look for him, and came back with a report such that Gio left it alone, but he might have wanted one without issues, don't know.
Mark, look for rust in the ususal places,...shock towers, inner fenders, floors ect.?
If the car was a year round daily driver up here, I'm surprised it still has any metal.

Lots of coupes in Australia. Here are a few nice ones. I want the yellow one with the round tail lights, but painted orange. http://www.turbo124.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7364

Orange? You're crazy. Yellow is where it's at.

This one has been for sale for some time. Sadly for those of us in the US its in Canada which poses some problems for a US buyer.

It isn't a horrible car, well worth looking at.

Even a somewhat rusty coupe is worth chasing after and fixing as they are more rare every day.

Thanks everybody. Chris, I left you a message. Yeah, if you could check it out on your way by (if you have the time and would enjoy it  ) I would appreciate that. Please also assess what sort of VW's he is into. I understand he would take one in trade, and that might save me some money, as I might be able to pick one up here. Just a thought.

I like the idea of having it more and more. Good for more weather here than the Spider is, for a start. And for more of the family at a time too.

BTW, I fixed the missing photo of the dash (interior shot). Sorry I did not notice that when I did the original post.

I know the original owner of this car. The car was well maintained by him. Sadly now it's in real poor shape and there is rust everywhere. I live in Vancouver BC and was very interested but...my brother who actually saw the car said it was not worth the bother because of the rust.

I realize they are much rarer than here in Europe, but that rear window rust would have me walking away. I doubt the A-pillars are any better. My first reaction, looking at that, was "yeeeessh". I'm sure it's Swiss cheese through and through.

Suddenly my own BC looks unbelievably solid.

So this is that coupe I see on Craigs list every now and then! Very interesting

Looks like an easy resto for me. BUT will some one pay for the work? If the floors and or inner rockers are solid BUY IT The rest is a piece of cake
I am also wondering how difficult it will be to find parts for it.
Parts, I have many OEM NEW and used

Last time I looked, he was down to $900 cdn. The car will be covered in snow now. I tought it would be salvagable, but I did not get a look at the shock towers and floors. It was bl.... cold out. I think if one was to show up with 5-$100 bills, he would probably go for it.
