OK, took the aar off, and there was only a very tiny opening, and trying to blow thru it, virtually no air would go thru. I sprayed some WD-40 in it and tapped it a few times lightly with a rubber mallet and it opened up all the way, air passed easily thru it. I put it back on and ran the engine up to full temperature. It started OK, it still idled somewhat slow when cold, but better.
Once up to full temp it was idling about 1300, just like it always has. I adjusted the idle down with the screw to about 1000, will have to see tonight if it will start when set like this and look at the aar again to see if it is open when cold.
I definitely need a new hose there, mine is cracking at the ends and feels brittle. Is this the same stuff as the brake booster? It looks the same and if it is I should replace it as well.
Just out of curiosity, what is the small 7mm nut on the driver side of the aar? It doesn't hold the thing together as far as I can tell.
