Rubber Pads for Hood
Rubber Pads for Hood
Does anyone have a photo of where the rubber pads for the hood go? I have seen the pads on Vicks website and I can no figure out where they go. My hood bounces a little in the corners by the windshield some times. I know this is probably going to be something very sinmple and I will look like an idiot again.
Re: Rubber Pads for Hood
I bought the same pads from Vicks. Sorry no pics but they're really easy to install. The lip of the rubber pad slides into a horizontal opening on each corner of the hood. Once you get them you'll see what I'm talking about. It'll take you all of 10 seconds to put them on.

Re: Rubber Pads for Hood
Most of the vendors sell the rubber pads that originally came on the early cars. I am not aware of anyone selling the foam-type pads that originally came on the later models (pictured below).

Re: Rubber Pads for Hood
For a slightly different spin, here's the correct pad mounting on a '78. It looks like the same size pad, although mine has a ridge around the outside edge.

Re: Rubber Pads for Hood
The only rust on my '82 was under those foam pads, seem to hold in moisture.

Re: Rubber Pads for Hood
I ended up using short pieces of door seal rubber. It mounted nicely and I have not had any issues with the hood bouncing. It also does not allow water to accumulate behind anything.
Re: Rubber Pads for Hood
I do not think so but I will take one this week end and put it up.

Re: Rubber Pads for Hood
Well that did not work, hum. I tried it again and something is not agreeing with what I am doing. If you will go to my web site (link listed below) click on pictures then click on photobucket pictures, the top four pictures are of the hood. Let me know what you think.
