@spidernut - I've been meaning to ask you, Do you have a larger picture of the car in your avatar? I'd Love to see that paintjob in more detail, it looks very nice.

Sorry but I've got nothing to add to this >_> For my fiat isent in any state to be driven yet so I don't have the faintest idea on what its going to be getting =P

I've got a 78 with the stock 32adfa and my milage varies anywhere from 19 to 25mpg depending on how much fun I'm having with it. For everyday, moderately conservative, city driving I can get low to mid 20's. The 19 is throttle wide open at every light, agressive, boy racer driving

25-28 overall average, depending on terrain... but only if my throttle control is present.

My stock 72 get an easy 30mpg on the Hwy if I keep it around 60mph. Never really figured the round town mileage.

I'd look it over then ask them how they came up with the price. To me, the '79 is the least desirable car,so I wouldn't pay more than $5K for one in mint condition. Not, an original survivor, mind you. I would want it with all the important parts replaced and updated. IMIO (In my imperious opinion).

The 79 fiat what i been looking at has been at a use car lot stored inside a show room for about 9  months. I test drove it before winter and i tell you it is mint with 78,000, but the top needs to be replaced. I have ask them 3 times to lower the price and they wont budge. So the last time i talk with them, i said what has happen with this car is that you bought it for a bad price, then you put your dealer mark up price on it, and now nobody wants it. After i told them that they just hang up on me every time i try to call them becuase i keep on buging them about it.

well, let's shed some light on these comments.... a mint condition, 100% complete Spider is worth more than $5k, even a (gasp) automatic. HOWEVER... the '79 and early 1980 models are undoubtedly the poorest performing of the two litre engines... in stock form.

now, my personal introspection of this particular vehicle as briefly as it has been described. $8900? NO. From a dealer? NO. Needing a $300 top plus the cost to install? not at that price!

don't ask them to lower the price.... walk in with cash in hand and tell them what you are willing to pay. if they refuse, walk away and don't go back. since they have seen you three times, they know you are gonna come back; all they have to do is have more patience than you. Badgering them won't change their minds... they know some guy is gonna buy it this spring for his just graduated high school daughter.
