What do you guys think a set of four 14" Maserati BiTurbo wheels are worth? All four are in great condition and need only to be refinished. Any ideas on a price?
Thanks,
Rick
Maserati BiTurbo Wheels
Re: Maserati BiTurbo Wheels
Well, if their from a BiTurbo, you can be sure that they have VERY LOW mileage!
Re: Maserati BiTurbo Wheels
if I was buying them, I'd say $20 should cover the set including shipping

Having been down the BiTurbo road extensively, I'd tell ya that they're worth is directly proportional to the amount of pressure the spouse is putting on the seller to GET RID OF ALL THAT CRAP!!!!
And if you could find 'em local to you, you should'nt need to pay more than about $50 for the set, if they require reconditioning.

Thanks for the input guys. I have a friend who's trying to unload all 4 of them locally for $100. I'm really not a fan of them but thought I'd pick them up if there was a market for them at that price. Evidently there's not so I think I'll pass.

Yes, I'd pass at that price.
Just as we've learned with the 124 Spiders; old and tough to find doesn't always equal "worth alot".
It's like a hard-top for our cars; they don;t come up for sale all the time, and yet when they do, they don't really fetch a big price-tag.
The BiTurbo is another under-rated car. It suffered badly from some poor marketing, and suffered even more from a poorly designed front suspension. And of course: the ZF trans that was in them was JUNK. But a very, very fun car to drive when working properly. I had a LOT of fun with them years ago, and wouldn't think twice about buying another one some day. Just don;t expect it to be as reliable as a similar vintage Toyota Camry.

Oh man, their is a lot of irony in that statement. Biturbo is italian for Pile-O-Crap. I think they needed a complete overhaul at 1500 miles. And wasn't it a French Mazeratti anyway? I think I would rather have the Mazeratti Chrysler TC. Although, that was a Pile-O-Crap as well.maytag wrote:The BiTurbo is another under-rated car. Irony? I don't see the irony.katsi wrote:Oh man, their is a lot of irony in that statement. Biturbo is italian for Pile-O-Crap. I think they needed a complete overhaul at 1500 miles. The car was / is tremendous fun to drive.
It was NOT french; you're thinking of the Bora and Khamsin, when Citroen owned Maserati. DeTomaso owned Maserati from '79 (the Biturbo was their first clean-slate after taking ownership) through the entire production run of the Biturbo. The Biturbo'd V6 was designed by non other than Giulio Alfieri, and was loosley based on an older Formula-One design.
The car had better interior than anything coming out of italy at the time, including Ferrari. It had fewer electrical issues than anything coming out of italy at the time. But it suffered from some compromises. Piero Andreani (from DeTomaso) wanted a car that brought all of the fun and excitement of owning a luxury marque to a platform affordable by the less affluent. My Jaguar X-Type that is my daily-driver suffers from that same compromise, for the same reason. You put too much into too little, and something in the middle will fail. (on the 'X' it's the t-case and the interior fitment).
And as for the Chrysler TC, what a horrible waste of effort. It was simply a fluffed 'Q'-car. Ugly. Slow. Polluter. It had NO redeeming qualities. So why you'd prefer that to a BiTurbo is beyond me.
