Brake light switch

Ok, give up, where in the %$# is the brake light switch on a 79 2000 Carb? Looked under by the pedal and can't find it. Thx

It should be directly above the steering linkage, 1/2 way between the u-joint and the firewall.
At least that's where mine is, and both being 2000s, yours should be also.

I'll look again, I saw a small cylinder type that looked like a relay but I didn't see how it would be activated when the pedal is depressed. What kind of actuator is it? Is it a lever switch or a button switch? Maybe that's my problem if part of it is broken off. Thx

Yep, your picture confirmed my suspicions. Th PO jury-rigged some sort of generic switch in there and bugered it up. Will need to get a new switch. Thx
