Sensors and resistors
My last question for what might be quite a while is about a few unknown sensors. First where is the heat guage additional resistor located and finally what are the two sensors under the intake manifold labeled on my 76's diagram?

You mean these two sneaky little buggers. I used to know, because i bought them new. But now i forgot.

Yep those are the two. That pic brings up one more question does the oil pressure sending unit have to be mounted on the side since mine is mounted on the top.

the oil pressure switch can be mounted on any port into the oil system. Those switches were for the dual point starting system. Under a certain temperature, the power to the points was switched to the alternate set which changed the timing a few degrees

In 76 the alternator was on the passenger side, they moved it to the drivers side in 77 and integrated the alternator mounting pivot into the oil filter mounting boss. The 76 oil filter mount has a port on the top and rear, while the 77 has ports on the front and back.

I have switched my distributor over to a single point system so are either of those sensors even needed anymore? And the reason i asked for the temperature resistor location is because the two wires coming out of the firewall are not the right color according to the diagram which should be green and black green. And they are in very poor condition.

If you switched the distributor over to single points then all you need is one 18 gauge wire that goes from the points to the coil negative side. Those two thermo switches under the intake manifold are now obsolete. Leave the wires hooked up to them, or not, it will not make a difference either way. No need to remove the sensors, since no one will see them and finding plugs that size is difficult.
Which green and green black wires are you refering to? On a 78 there are a set of green and green/black wires that come out of the firewall near the distributor, one for the starting points and one for the running points. Since you switched to single points neither of these are needed anymore.

In my diagram for my 76 the green-black and green wires go to the two heat sensors on the cylinder head. But they are no where to be found and the resistor is their originating point but i dont know where that resistor is.

The temp gauge resistor is up under the dash in what looks like an in-line fuse holder, It should be made of blue plastic, and around the area between the ignition switch and the center console. If you open it up you will see the resistor which looks like a fuse with wire wrapped around it.
There should be two brass sensors in the "valley" of the cylinder head near the spark plugs, one controls the temp gauge, the other pegs the needle when it gets too hot.

So i have found the green and green-black wires but they come out below the distributor. I had thought they came out right at the firewall behind the # 4 piston. Though im not sure if these are the correct wires. The two wires that do come out of the firewall near the plugs serve a purpose unknown to me, and when they are hooked up to the two sensors they do nothing. Does this have something to do with the fact that i changed it over to single points? I tried to get brad artigue's diagram for my 76 but his site is down.

What are the tread sizes of the two sensor holes on the cylinder head.
