Bent Alternator Pulley...

Post by Fiat88 »

As discussed in another thread, which I need to update I just changed my timing belt, new water pump and some seals, tensioner bearing. While checking out various components, I noticed that the alternator pulley is kind of warped and when I turn the pulley about a turn and a half it makes a squeak. Also, I noticed that the 3 hole bracket on the old water pump which the water pump pulley attaches to looks kind of slightly bent.

Any ideas of what could be the problem that caused this and what should I replace? THx.

Any chance the car was in an accident that pushed the radiator back into the engine????

Not really sure, I know that the PO had the car repainted and body work done. I did notice that the front right side has some frame rail damage, you could have a point about the radiator though as the car has a manual trans. type radiator with a seperate intercooler, my car is an automatic so I know that the original radiator is not there.

Just noticed you are not to far from us. Memorial Day weekend there will be a Wings and Wheels event at Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford, Ct. Should be a fun weekend. Sat and Sunday are open car shows and Monday is a by invitation only show. There will be lots of old military and other aircraft as well as trucks etc. Information is on Discovery Museum, Black horse Garage or Three Wing Aviation web sites.
