If it weren't for bad luck...

Post by fiasco »

... I'd have no luck at all!

For those who are familiar with my saga, here's the latest update. On the last episode, the insurance company had paid off for the totalled Fiasco (after 5 months!), but unfortunately it came right on the heels of an unexpected tax bill from the state of California. So the piggy bank was emptied, and the saving began again.

Well, the piggy bank has gotten just about full enough for me to start shopping for Fiasco II, just in time for the people renting the house we own in Texas (that we couldn't sell 2 years ago when we moved back to CA) to call and say they are moving out. In the long run, it's probably good - we need to get the house on the market again and get it sold - but it means we'll definitely have at least one month, and probably at least two during which we have to cover the mortgage on that house with no rent money coming in.

How we gonna do that, you ask? Good thing we have all that Fiat money saved up.

So bear with me. I really am coming back to Fiat-land...someday. In the mean time, I'm about done stripping parts from the Fiasco, and am ready to get the two defunct Fiat bodies out of my driveway.

Hey Steve, it could be worse.
On the other hand, maybe not.
Good luck selling the house, at least the market isn't as bad as it was a year ago. What part of Texas is the house in?

Thanks guys! As they say, "this too shall pass".

Ron - the house is in the suburbs north of Dallas, McKinney to be exact. The upside is that home values really didn't drop much in that area, but it's a little hard to sell because there are so many on the market. We're going to try to price it on the low end and see if we can move it quickly.
