Check the oil level in the compressor. sounds like you're low....if that's not it, try driving around cows instead of over them.

I assumed you have air horns, right? If so, find the horns and follow the plastic tubing to the compressor. It's usually found on the left side of the engine compartment or possibly in or at the grille (left side). There's a little cap on top the compressor you remove to add oil. I use 3 in 1 oil.

What fun! If you'd like to replace your horn, I have an extra one from a '78. Email me.

Ha Ha mine sounds just like that too! I just yelled out at the Expedition that tried to run over me the other day. I suppose I should add a horn upgrade to my list of things to do as well.

Happy motoring! -Peter

I have two trumpet shaped horns behind the grill . Might get an Autozone special and add a button somewhere. I ride a motorcycle too so I'm used to being invisible . When you're smaller than everybody else you have to take the attitude that they're all out to get you 8)

Your horns might have gotten water in them. What you need to find is a set of air horns like the early model cars.

Hey Bob,
What do you ride? I have a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 and just added a Harley Dyna Superglide to the garage. We definitely have to meet up,we got more in common than just living 1 town apart.

Sounds like you have air horns and they work great on bikes too:

I do have air horns based on the wiring diagram I have. Ga Spider, I have a 97 Buell Cyclone . It's a beast with some performance upgrades. Let's ride sometime.

Then you can try and see if the pump needs oil which is mounted to the left fender well towards the front of the car near the frame rail. There is a small flap you open and put about 6 drops of air tool oil in there and try again. If it makes no difference the horns may have crud in them or starting to rust up inside. If you have an air compressor you can take the hose off the pump and blow air thru them and check the sound.
