1980 spider question

Hello all I'm looking at a 1980 spider next week and hoping if someone knows if a Dark Blue with Tan LEATHER was a factory color combo. The car is definitely repainted and I'm hoping it is same as factory. Also the car has a carb so I assume it will have the similar anemic performance of the 79 I drove last week?...

Well Technically only the Special Editions had leather in 1980 sooooo...... Now as for the carb. If its a factory 1980 carb car then the interior has been redone and yes all the emissions stuff will kill this car performance. If this car was a Special Edition then it should have been fuel injected and been a very special gold-ish color that Mr. Pininfarina mixed himself. Good luck and hopefully its aftermarket carbed so that its got some pickup to it.

I thought the Specical Edition Anniversary cars were all 1981?

Check out the documentation. They were all ment to be 1980s now some dealers may have.... well you know fudged the documents so they could sell it as that years model. But all buyers of the 1980 S.E. received a signed book from Mr. Pininfarina himself saying thanks and in the book it showed all the cars they had made up to that point.
