Wheel Identification

Post by HOLLYWOODSPIDER »

My '78 Spider came with a set of (what I believe to be) aluminum turbine-style rims on it. When I got the car, I had intended on getting the original style steel wheels with hubcaps.

My local mechanic used to work for the Fiat dealership in Glendale, CA, and he tells me these wheels were sold by the dealership and were very expensive at the time. I have been unable to locate the manufacturer's name anywhere. The only markings are "MADE IN BRITAIN" and the greek symbol for "Scorpio." Anyone have any idea who may have made them?

I'd post pics, but I lost my digital camera over the holidays.

any wheels sold by a dealership were expensive! Have you checked Chris Oberts' site? He has a wheel id page with virtually every wheel made to fit a Fiat

I checked out the wheel pages on Chris oberts' site, but my wheels are not represented. The wheels I had on my old spider, by American Racing, are not there either. I've got pics in my computer now, just a matter of getting them on to photobucket and then posting a link.

I have a customer with those wheels on their Spider, it's the only other set I've seen like that

Do you know if theirs have center caps? Mine are capless and I'd like to get some caps for them. The scorpio insignia is curious. I can't find any manufacturer that uses that insignia. I didn't even know what it was, but a Scorpio friend of mine was very excited by it.

Any chance I could get pics and measurements of your center caps, Rey?
