Mystery Wire
I just found a wire coming out of the firewall next to the radiator overflow bottle. It is a 22ga white wire inside a black protective casing with a black insulated female quick slide at the end. It looks like it should go to the coil. I would send a picture but I am electronically and digitally challenged. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Joe
Thanks.

Re: Mystery Wire
That might be the wire that goes to the coil that is part of the tack.

Re: Mystery Wire
It is not the O2 wire , it has one on it. I will send a pic if someone can tell me how to do it.

Re: Mystery Wire
Here's a good tutorial on posting pics from Baltobernie:
http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... res#p37831
I looked on my 82 for wires coming out the firewall by the overflow tank. The only separate wire other than the one for the O2 sensor is a black wire going to ground at the end cover plate of the exhaust cam tower. But it doesn't have a spade connector. Neither of the + or - wires on the coil is white, and they are in a common sheath. Does your tach work?

Was it the tach wire?

Re: Mystery Wire
I don't think so. The tach works fine. This wire enters the engine compartment through the firewall on the engine side of the overflow bottle along with a yellow wire in a black casing that is on the - side of the coil. My two coil wires are in a black casing, pink + and brown/white - They come through the firewall on the fender side of the overflow bottle. There is another male spade on the - side of the coil, could it possibly go there?

Re: Mystery Wire
That is where my tach wire is connected. It's in a black sheath so I can't see what color the wire is, and I'm not seeing it in my wiring diagrams. Do you have three wires on the negative post of the coil? One from the module (eye terminal) and two on the spade terminals?

Re: Mystery Wire
judging from the picture, that wire is from the efi harness, what i goes to im not sure, provided the efi signal wire is on the coil.

Re: Mystery Wire
The wire from the ECU is the brown with white stripe. The pink wire is from the ignition switch. So it's not FI related. Other than the two wires coming up from the module these two plus the wire for the tach are the only wires on the coil. If the tach is working it may be that it's wire has been replaced and this is the original one.
Hard to say without actually tracing it past the firewall though.

Re: Mystery Wire
that particular wire is from the efi harness, you can see the white numbered wire below the black sheathing, and the plug also gives it away, i just dont remember for what its for , ill look tomorrow

pet peave: NOT telling what year car you have when you ask for help.
I doubt that is a FI wire, it has the wrong end. Also, the FI harness wire comes in with the green Lamba wire, not a yellow wire.

Re: Mystery Wire
its not the o2 sensor wire, nor is it a injector wire, but it is from the efi harness. ill have the exact answer tomorrow have to look at my efi cars and consult my shop manuals. the black outer casing and the connector are definatly bosch, the inner white wire has a number on it barely visable, you could peel back the sheath and give me the number on the wire and i could give you the exact application for the efi system. im sure it is unused on the spider, i remember seeing an extra wire. but its been a few years since ive been under the hood of a efi spider.

Re: Mystery Wire
ron i assume the car is running?, there is a black sheathed wire from the ecu to the negative side of the coil, which sends ignition signal to the ecu, telling the injectors when to fire. it has a piggyback connector on it as i remember.
