Ferrari DNA
Ferrari DNA
In 1965 Pininfarina drew up the Ferrari 275 GTS. Take the strong resemblance and fold in the fact that our cylinder head was designed by Aurelio Lampredi whom during a period in the fifties was Ferrari's chief design engineer and it is not difficult at all to embrace the notion that we ARE driving "baby Ferraris".

Re: Ferrari DNA
Family Ties, for sure! Your photo got me thinking: Has anybody ever seen a Spider with Borrani wheels? So I went on their website, and yep, they make a 13 x 5.5" 60 spoke wheel and hub to fit the Spider! I'm afraid to ask the price
Hmmm, anybody skilled in Photoshop?

Re: Ferrari DNA
A V8 would have been nice BUT the engine we didn't get from the Ferrari pictured would have been a Lampredi v12 with a displacement of 12 X 275 cc or 3.3 liter displacement.TulsaSpider wrote:The family line is strong with this one! Too bad we didn't get the V8!!!

Isn't that like saying we're all related because it all started with Adam and Eve?
.Which begs the question....what did their kids do?
Cheers,

Re: Ferrari DNA
The car started selling in 1964 and ended in 1966, how did it get drawn up in 1965?
Re: Ferrari DNA
Seeing as how a Ferrari 275 GTS will fetch about $200,000+ and selling my Fiat would barely cover a months mortgage... Spiders are more like the "Red-Headed Step Children" of Ferrari.
Re: Ferrari DNA
These are Borrani direct bolt 13"x6" made for 4x98. Iam going to use them on my coupe.

Pinin was the dad. He had a lot of mistresses. Some were some fancy ladies, like Ferrari, and sometimes Pinin musta been having few out at the local bar, because he even went home with Fiat and I'm pretty sure we can dig up an old Chevy (?) photo, too.

Re: Ferrari DNA
Most all Ferrari V12s do indeed have krinkle paint valve covers. I've owned a few and they were all that way. Also a lot of other stuff under the hood. Basically if Ferrari was painting an engine bay component black they tended to use krinkle paint. It hides a lot of flaws and rough finish as well as dirt. Enzo produced some fabulous engines in truck chassis with little or no refinement in areas where it didn't show. M. Bouse vindicated!Danno wrote:OMG, are those wrinkle painted valve covers? The early road cars cars were mostly just race cars with nicer interiors and some chrome added to the body work. You'd be amazed how rough a lot of that handcrafted body work is under the shiny paint. On a 250 GTE I restored there was a good 1/4 to 3/4 " variance from left to right sides of the car and body panels from car to car are NOT interchangeable without a lot of lead and metal work. BTW, as an interesting note it is normal to find a very well crafted drivers side and a very sloppy passenger side on the hand built Ferraris. They always had the master craftsman work the drivers side and the apprentice work the other side. After all, which side does the owner see most when approaching the car?

Re: Ferrari DNA
The car indeed was introduced at the Paris auto show in 1964 and ended production after 200 cars with the 1966 introduction of the 330S. However, it was "freshened" with a mild facelift in 1965 which may be what the reference to being "drawn up" is getting at.beachboy wrote:The car started selling in 1964 and ended in 1966, how did it get drawn up in 1965?
