removing starter

Can someone give me some specifics on removing the starter on my 76? I know it's a PITA . What size flex sockets and long extention do I need ? I have to borrow or buy them so the sizes would be nice.

If I remember correctly, I used a 10 or 13mm socket attached to a u-joint, then had a couple long extensions. Some people use a wobble extension, but I didn't have a problem with just the ujoint:

When you finally get the bolts from the housing, you may have to move the wheels at a certain angle to fish the starter out from the bottom. I ended up removing the fuel pump and getting mine out from the top. When you reinstall the starter motor, make sure you attach the spade connector for the solenoid before you get the starter on. The hardest part of the job was getting that dang wire attached without seeing where it went.

long extension with a swivel and a 13mm socket. Denise is right about turning the wheel to get the starter past the pitman arm. Even then it's a tight fit
