Ferrari 599 vs. 312T

Post by baltobernie »

Have you guys heard about this? http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor. ... 12000CA482 It seems that a Ferrari street-legal "production" road car lapped the Nurburgring slightly quicker than Niki Lauda's best qualifying lap in the F1 Ferrari 312T during the 1975 German Grand Prix.

I guess this is a slam-dunk regarding automotive technology progression in the last 35 years. I mean, a road car! With wipers, glass, A/C and so on ... just unbelievable.

If I was a zillionare, I'd put a set of 599 tires on the F1 car, and see what she'd do.

I saw that story too and was pretty surprised. But while it is "technically" a production road car, the 599xx(the car in question) is being treated the same way as the fxx. You can buy it, you can own it, and you can drive it, but only on Ferrari test tracks and special events. The cars aren't allowed to leave Ferraris possession.

But regardless it's a pretty amazing feat to accomplish.

That is pretty amazing.

I really don't have much to ad, I just want to see three yellow spiders in a row.

Orange you glad I dropped by, you yellow bellied Spiders? The numbers are impressive, but the body styling is majorly lacking for a Ferrari. Its a "production/road car" but to me its starting to look like a Fast and Furious Toyota Supra. I guess I just like the old Ferrari's (front engine, open top). The dino is the only closed top mid engine Ferrari I like. Now back to your regularly scheduled yellow Fiats.
