Spammers

Post by ventura ace »

I don't get it. Must be a reason. This site gets spammed every day by 1 or 2 weird topics offering off-color crap. I rarely see this on other Forums. Isn't there some filter available that could stop this trash? I don't really see what they gain from it -- I doubt that anybody here ever opens the links, for fear of virus's if nothing else. Just curious as to why it hits FS.com so regularly??

both Evan and I are well aware of it, I've taken to checking throughout the day to try and remove the topics quickly. I think it's because members can register without any type of review by the admin. Many sites make you wait for approval before you can post.

i appreciate the effort you guys put out to clean up the garbage.

d'ya think we will live long enough to see the spammers move on to other more productive sites?

at least they are so blatently obvious. they make themselves easy to identify and avoid that way.

I wish I had the access to remove them from the member list, but I can only remove the posts. It's pretty easy to look at their profile and determine their interests are not Fiats

To encourage and expand the sport, and our specific hobby (Fiat Spiders) we gotta (IMHO) keep access to the forums as easy as possible for the new folks.

I appreciate their and my ability to log in with such ease.

Unfortunately, that allows the garbage from society the same access.

Just avoid opening any attatchments/links referencing barely legal asian teens or enlargement gels.

I don't open links from brand new users.

It's always in the Custon Stuff section. Does Custom stuff roughly translate to fetish? You'd think that at least they would put the Viagra ads in the Performance section. You know "Kick it up a knotch, make it go fast."
