car just dies
car just dies
hello, i'm new to the forum just discovered it a few days ago, seems like a cool place. Anyways i have a 1977 124 spider the car idel's fine and sounds good, but as soon as i try to rev the engine it dies. I thought it might be the fuel pump, but i installed a new one along with a new filter and i still have the same problem. I'm thinking it's the accelarator pump on the carb but i'm not sure any insight would be greatly appretiated. Thanks

Hi Jake,
Welcome to the fourm. Where are you located? I have FI Spiders but I'm sure you will have several suggestions by tomorrow. How about some pics of your Spider. Good luck, George

worn accelerator pumps are common and easy to replace. The o-ring on the discharge nozzle could be worn also, preventing all of the fuel from entering the venturi.
