Hey all!
This evening, I put the key in to unlock the trunk, and it just spun.
Long story short: after 1/2 hour of messing with it, I finally drilled the cylinder out, and the cable is not where I can see or grab it.
HOW DO I GET IN THE TRUNK NOW?
any help or ideas are appreciated.

No cable, a plastic actuating rod. If you drilled out the cylinder, you should be able to stick a flat blade screwdriver in the lock cylinder and twist to open. If that does not work you will have to drill a 1/8" hole in the sheet metal behind the license plate. In the center about 2 inches down. Use a small pick, stiff wire, small screwdriver to pop the lock mechanism. A dab of silicone sealant over the hole when you are done.

i have 10 or 12 fiats... they may have made a bunch of different locks but it seems to me, alot of the different keys work on different cars. just fyi next time you decide to start drilling, your buddies key will probably work if you jiggle it.

check this out: I pulled the license plate with a drill in-hand.... only to find there was already a cleverly disguised / plugged hole there already!
so now I'm in the market for a lock/ key, adn mayeb one that matches for the glovebox.

Mark,
Do you have any instructions on how to remove/reconfigure the locks? I have a key but it only fits the trunk, I'd like to get back to functional, ideally without a locksmith if I can learn something in the process.
Thanks,
Peter.

I take mine to the local locksmith. It doesn't cost much and you can get extra keys cut.
