Anybody here order a new 500 ??

Post by ga.spyder »

I was curious if anyone here put in a order for a Prima Edizione 500 last night? The email went out to FLU members some time yesterday, for a chance at a numbered ,special edition 500.I went online this morning kinda toying with the idea of ordering one, even though it really isnt viable for me.Anyway..all 500 are gone.In one night ?? Wow.After driving one,I felt like they would sell here but that was ridiculous.So...did anyone here get one ?

My email arrived at 9:04. By the time I read the email and logged on, it said there were none available. That was within minutes of the email arriving. Could they have sold 500 in 5 minutes? If so, I'm disappointed to have missed out but glad the demand is so high. I would like to see Fiat succeed over here this time around.

I have a confirmation for car #277 from Freakout but have heard nothing since. I didn't receive an email last night.

Just thought the car's number might be confusing because it was so high. I own a1981 LE and its #is 277 so I thought it might be nice if the 500 is a 2011 to have one of each limited editions with the same number on them. I think the first 10 numbers went to charity and starting with 11 were available to flu members. I saw others ordering numbers in area of 11 to 20 at Freakout.

Me again, So I called the Fiat information center 1 888 242 6342 and they told me you are correct all the cars are spoken for. However they still do not have dealers or pricing. If you go to the ciarofiat site to order a 500 it will say none available, you can then look for a priority list and place your order there. If someone cancels their order they will call the priority list in the order names are placed on that list.

Good Luck

I placed my hold order for one at Freakout in July. Number 222.

I saw the email and hit the link. At that moment there were still about 150+ cars available. My wife and I started refreshing the site and watched the cars get snapped up, 2-3 at a time and then 10, 12 and so on as we refreshed. In the course of 15-20 minutes they were all gone. Even my non Fiat loving wife (ok tolerant) was cheering it along.

It was gratifying to see them all get snapped up by other enthusiasts in our club. I think only two of us in our chapter ordered at Freakout, I don't know yet if anyone else in WMFLU grabbed a spot last night.

I was hoping it was a glitch of some sort, but apparently not. They got snapped up in a hurry! But hey, those people who got Prima Ediziones will be jealous of those of us in the Abarths and convertible models :mrgreen:I almost ordered one at FFO,in the spirit of the moment. But I need a truck to work out of,and my wife puts a lot of miles on her vehicle so we decided against it.Maybe reserving one would have been a good idea!

I see I totally missed out here. So I am curious. Lets say I wanted one and I was the 30th person or so. I call somewhere, Give them my credit card number? SSN? Bank account?, Credit score? Or they hold one for you on a whim that you will really buy it when it gets here? Please help me LOL I'm really curious

you had to give them $500 on a cc, but it's totally refundable at any time you decide to bail out. You have to complete the sales order by 12/31 with a dealer. The tough part now is that the dealer could tack on a premium or delivery charge or any other fee and if you won't pay it, the next person in line gets the chance to buy it. I doubt there will be any sold for a discount price

Wow, the orders rolled in fast! If nothing else this shows that there is pent-up demand for great small cars. Fiat should be working 24/7 to get their cars and dealer network in place.
My wife wants to wait for an Abarth, I want a diesel. Is a diesel even coming to the US?

To me, something doesn't quite stack up. There were 500 cars to be offered for the special promotion. I was at FFO in July when the first offer was made. There was lots of excitement, lots of folks there, folks that had money to spend, but out of all the people there, I believe there were only about 30 reserved (I reserved #18). And this was with Fiat sales people standing by, 6 laptop computers open and ready to take orders, plenty of assistance to answer any questions and iron out any bugs in the registration process. So, it just doesn't make sense to me that within just a few hours the other 400+ cars got zapped up after FLU sent out e-mails to everyone on their mailing list of about 700 people. And there are no updates from FIAT to summarize the results of the offer. I don't understand the Cloak and Dagger tone of the whole thing. It seems that we may all be part of a marketing study, where FIAT is evaluating responses in order to figure out some of their marketing strategies.

In any event, I'm happy to be a possible owner of one of the first special editions for the US market. And if I decide that it doesn't work out for our family, then it seems that there are plenty people here that would possibly be interested to buy my reserved car.

If someone registered through http://www.fiatusa.com/ they also received an email. Since I was registered on both sites I received two emails. One from FLU and the other from http://www.fiatusa.com/ Probably where the extra interest/buyers came from.
