What's up with these people? It'll be a small wonder if Fiat is able to get a foothold into the US market with such negativity floating around before the cars are even here.

Denise, for the most part I believe critics find it easier to write negative comments over positive ones, a Brit reporter commenting the lack of snow at an olympic venue comes to mind.
The 500 is in with a number of established cars in the north american market and some are perhaps concerned over a reduced market share so have begun bashing the car. We can only hope the quality is going to be good and there will not be any recalls, that will kill the car here real quick. They might have a few individual issues but most if not all cars do.
My step-moms new Passat wagon (v6) was a great car for two weeks before some electrical sensor packed it in and left her stranded. Towed to a dealer, replaced the offending part, and not an issue the past year and a half.
That 500 looks like a great little car If they are right about the 100hp and 40 mpg.

PS thinking of a name for your 500 when it gets here?

A name for my 500 depends on what gender it is. If it's a female, I might call her Roxann. If it's a male, which all my Fiats are, he'll be called Little Red.
