I got home today and the temp gauge was almost maxed out. The overflow tank looked like a round ball.
I assume the fan is not working... Anything common go on these, to make it overheat?

Re: Over Heating...
Have you determined if the t-stat is operational? If the t-stat is opening it's possible you have a leak and have gotten air in the system. Check to see if the lower radiator hose is cool. You can also check the operation of the fan by connecting the two wires.

Re: Over Heating...
I put in an auxiliary switch on my fan just in case. But yeah, like he said about the T stat and air bubbles. Or just a simple blown hose.
Re: Over Heating...
I live in Texas and had an auxiliary fan put in which helped it to run cooler.
Re: Over Heating...
I had similar issues with over heating. The guys on FLU were very helpful in solving the problem. Here is the link to the thread that I started and hopefully you will find it useful.

Search other threads whilst you are there as there is quite a lot of good detail on this problem.
In my case, in the end I had to re core the radiator and get a new water pump + change all the hoses since they were on the way out.
Hope this helps.
