Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
I am trying to decide what i want to use for my Spiders Steering
Wheel and Shift Knob been searching and collecting photos for
weeks now found some that i like, MOMO seems to be my favorites
but expensive . Not sure if i can afford going all MOMO as i need to
Paint, purchase Wheels &Tires, A Header and Exhaust system plus
lots of other goodies .
So i decided to see what Spider owners thought of my choices and
what they have in there cars i know everyone has there own tastes
and my choices aren't going to be for everyone .It's so hard to
get things to match or look right in a spider even more so when
adding aftermarket parts !
This is where i am at as of right now before pulling the trigger and buying
something my hands will be on for hours and hours of Fun Driving enjoyment
but maybe some of you have a better matching setups already . Share what
you think of my options so far and please post photos of your goodies to i
showed you mine time to show me yours .
I am sure many Fiat Spider owners will enjoy the input on this a lot of guys
and one gal on here like to customize there pride and joy .
# 1 Option expect for the big MOMO Lettering on the wheel if that is how it comes ? i
would remove that . This setup costs the most and may not even be a option for me but
all the pieces match .
Maybe get the e brake handle as well MAYBE
# 2 Option less expensive but still up there
#3 Option a lot less money not sure if the wheels looks right being so modern in a Spider though
#4 about the same cost as option # 3

You're right - everyone's tastes will vary. I prefer a classic look in a 30-year old car, so I won't vote on your options. But be careful with the diameter of those wheels. Anything that's much smaller than stock will require very high steering effort at lower speeds. All of those shift knobs are held on with set screws, so the lower portion look bigger than necessary. IMHO they suit a car that has a very tall shift boot, to disguise the base of the knob.

I'm with the kilrwail: I prefer the classic look as well, so no vote for your options.
Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
I do like some of the more classic looking wheels and shift knobs some guys on here have cool looking
Wood shift knobs like Curly's for instance love the look ! just want to match the wheel to the shifter .
I think these setups look good and would go great in a newer mustang, camaro or honda but your points are
what i am feeling as well .
Someones has the perfect setup on here that will fit the look and style it's just a wait and see who post some
photos up to see .
Thanks for the input so far

My pref would be #2 or #4 wheel. The #2 knob is the only one I like.
I've had 13" wheels on both my cars and while the steering was a little harder getting in and out of tight parking spots, the rest of the time it was fine.

Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
I'd go for the #1 set-up for my car if it didn't have the MOMO at the top of the steering wheel. It would go nice with my brushed aluminum dash.
I would go a different route if I had a wood dash.

If my interior was black I think these would be fine. Not crazy about the word MOMO as it runs through my head and I get fixated on it. SInce my interior is tan I think the wood looks better, a more classic style. I have a vision in my head about a very aggressive looking spider, black, low, wide tires, flared fenders and totaly custom interior. Black interior with stainless dash face and console insert. In that case the #2 would be my choice.
Just try to remember it is your car and make it your vision.

Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
I too like it classic, but hey, thats me
I like your Idea, sounds like a really sweet spider, give her hell. I vote for wheel #2, I think that it would be suitable in a spider. Regarding the Japanese wheels, that would be too much, even for an open-minded guy like myself!
Nardi Makes some nice wheels...

Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
Ya Zippy i am with you on the MOMO top of the steering wheel as well i don't think
it comes that way must be for advertising ? i grabbed this photo off the internet .
Nardi Wheels cost so much i wouldn't even consider buying plus i've never seen one
that looks anything close to a stock 124 style wheel . I was trying for 3 spokes black
leather or rubber and like some spiders came with Aluminum Finish, something along
the same look with a modern touch to it .
I had a feeling Marks Favorite Shift knob would be that one for some reason hehe ...

Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
my fav steering wheel is the Momo Prototipo, it has a period-correct look
Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
Isn't that kind of a dead ringer for the late (at least my '84) Spider wheels? So Cal Mark wrote:my fav steering wheel is the Momo Prototipo, it has a period-correct look
Momo Prototipo
vs.
My wheel ('84)
Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
similar, but oh so much nicer! It looks correct for the car rather than like a drifting wheel grafted where it doesn't belong (apologies to any drifters out there, your wheels are great in the right car)
Re: Vote for your Favorite Shift Knob & Steering wheel
this one is pretty good looking only seen one or 2 of these in person sometime ago, domy fav steering wheel is the Momo Prototipo
you know if they have them in bare aluminum finish ?
