May have botched my 1st attempt.
I purchased the 72 from Spence in Nashville.
Great to have a forum specific to these little cars. Totally new to Fiat, and have a lot to learn.
It's a cool little sports car, that has a deadline to be running and looking great by Spring.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello and Welcome to the forum. Maybe you can get your car ready for the national Fiat convention in Nashville next July; hope to see you there.
A lot of folks who've been Fiat-ing for years have posted some good ideas, tips and procedures on the various sections in the forum. You'll find a wealth of information there, and we try to answer your new questions, too. Sometimes, we even answer correctly (When we don't, the moderator or an experienced user usually interjects). Photos of the offending part and the year of your car always help.
Good Luck, and keep us posted!

Being new to Fiat, I didn't know there was this event in Nashville.
We should have the carcompleted by May 1st.
Will do a search for details, and plan on being there with the Spider.
Thanks for the info.

As you'll see when visiting their site, the event moves around the East Coast and Midwest. Definitely plan on attending, even if your car isn't finished or pretty. You'll get a chance to meet other owners and see what they've done to their cars, where they obtain parts, etc. I plan on arriving a few days early, to spend some Quality Time at Rippy's.

Welcome! I, too, am a 72 owner. The best year of the Spider in my humble opinion! Please do check out the Fiat Freakout at the http://www.FLU.org website. It's a great time to meet other Fiat owners and check out their cars. Nashville should prove to be a great venue and I'm looking forward to seeing my Fiat buddies and meeting new ones!

I like the 72 because the later a model runs, the larger our govt mandates the bumpers to be.mdrburchette wrote:Welcome! I, too, am a 72 owner. The best year of the Spider in my humble opinion! They can take a great looking car,and ruin it with larger bumpers.
Woud like to see some pics of your 72.
I am changing everything inside and out of my car,and like to see more cars for more ideas.
I have been searching the net to find some estimates of how many registered Spiders are on the road today.
So far no luck. My guess is not many, and this car is being overlooked as a nice little sports car that sell cheap.
It's like any other car of this age, in that they had to survive rust.

We have over 600 members in the FLU organization and there are many more Fiat owners out there. I would think there are a few thousand cars still on the road. It would be great to know exactly how many there are and where they're located. I own several Fiats. If you want to see them all, you can check out my albums here:

Googled everything I could think of to learn more about this Fiat event in Nashville this summer.
So far, I have not found anything.
Anyone have a link, or the name of this event/show?

Thanks for the info.
I live in the Nashville area, and am fortunate to have this here.
This is my first Fiat, and am looking forward to seeing all of the cars.
The closest car I ever owned was a MG Midget, back in high School.
Only found this Spider during my never ending search for an Austin Healey.
Now that I have this 72 Spider to restore, it may end the Healey search, because I like this Spider so much.
The more I am in it, making the restoration plan, the more I like it.
