Here's the deal: you can't undo the damage / wear that has been done, but you can stop it from progressing (or at least slow the progression) and get a lot of serviceable miles out of it still.

This is particularly important (and admittedly more difficult) on a down-shift. Understanding ow this works, you'll chuckle to know that I had an '89 Mustang with the T5 trans that the cltch NEVER worked right on. So I drove without it... for all but starting from a dead-stop. (the things we do when we can't afford any other solution :wink: )

This is not the 1st italian car that's had 2nd gear synchros go missing. :lol: The Italians invented the double-clutch... it's how a rev-happy motor like ours should be driven anyway! :lol:

Frankly, you could get a season out of it that way, and find you really enjoy it, and then replace that trans with a good used unit during the cold months to come. my current project has had the same issue since I acquired it 2 years ago, and I've driven it like that, with the intention of replacing the trans when I replace the motor (a different thread explains why that is on hold for yet one more year... :roll: )

Yeah, I'm still driving it skipping 2nd gear, it's rough in street traffic though...lol 1st gear is so jumpy.

I STILL can't get the whole double clutch thing down, I must not be doing it right because I can't get it to shift into 2nd without grinding the shit out of the gear. My dad's tried to tell me how to do it, and it's hard to get the coordination down.

Of course I also learned how to drive a stick in this car, so that means I've only really been able to drive one for about 2 years :P

if you are going to drive it it is mandatory that you change the oil metal in the oil WILL trash the rest of the trans. continued grinding will just put more metal back in the oil. a little patience and practice and u will get the double clutching dowm

Respectfull disagree bout changing oil. Are you gonna change it every week??? Either drive it and accept that fact that you are wearing and tearing slowly on everything in there, or figure out how to replace /rebuild it. Or buy a lot of trans fluid and change your fluid every week.
