Great looking car that will shine up real nice. I'm not familiar with the wheels you have on it. How does it run? I'm a big fan of getting the mechanicals sorted out before dressing her up. Very nice!!
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Gotta love the duct tape window. Nice touch.
Looks like its got real potential. You said it runs out good?
Any idea about the timing belt?
So what's the priority list?
Good luck.

I like tan tops on the darker colors too - your navy blue, the dark red, or hunter green.
I also like tan, because if you get caught in slow moving, sunny summer traffic, you can put the top up for shade & it won't radiate heat like a black top will.
If you ever make it a bit further southwards, check out our Chicago are Fiat group. We often do stuff near Milwaukee, and out towards Beloit, and I've been looking for an excuse to go Northwards!

Re: Joining in the fun!
I actually go to school in Milwaukee, but the car isn't here with me.
First of all, yes, surprisingly, it runs fairly well. The rubber hoses need replacing and probably new head gaskets, which should take care of the backfire I get every once in a while. It needs a new/fixed starter, but once it is running it idles well and sounds great! The oil was just changed and the timing belt looks to be in very good condition (thank god).
The wheels were, at one point, a wire-hub style, but those are now in the trunk because they "need to be rechromed", but I get the feeling that that is the least of my aesthetic worries...I will probably put them back on.
Anyway, here is the to-do list, in order, as far as I am concerned.
(buff and polish and wax the heck out of it).
1. Repair starter so I can move it without push starting
2. Get a new set of tires because these are ALL split.
3. Replace engine hosing
4. Replace Engine Gaskets
5. Replace Convertible top (tan)
6. Wait a few years and enjoy the car until I graduate college and have the money to finish the project.
7. New paint job
8. Fix whatever else has decided to stop working over the years.
But seeing as I got the car for only $600, I think that I can justify these improvements.

Re: Joining in the fun!
Fabulous buy. Why did the seller come down from $2300 (sign in window) to 600?
I would go back to seller and ask when the timing belt was last changed. As others here have pointed out, the "looks" of a timing belt means nothing.
Congratulations.

Re: Joining in the fun!
$2500, actually!
Well, he was selling it to make room for other cars (aka: not firm on the price) and when I went to test drive it the first time it didn't start (big bonus for me). I basically said no, but he wanted to sell it so bad that I worked him down and eventually he gave me the car and a storage cover for just 600.
Thanks for the advice on the timing belt, I will look into it and maybe just replace it: they're cheap, and I'm better safe than sorry.

Re: Joining in the fun!
Congrats on the purchase.I have taken 2 Fiats that had paint as dull as that, and brought the shine back.Go to Autozone and p/u a bottle of Meguiars Ultimate Compound.Great product!! It isnt nearly as aggresive as..say 3M rubbing compound, but really works well.I did both cars by hand.Make sure to put a quality wax over it,after you finish getting the shine back.Good luck!!!!
