Re: 1985 pininfarina still driving me crazy SOS
I want to thank all of you who responded to my sos. I am happy to report that my pininfarina is back on the road running great. The problem was the temperature sensor. I jumped it with a piece of phone wire and crossed my fingers that it would run longer than its max of ten minutes and so it did. I replaced it and it runs great. As for the air lock in the system I don't think I have a problem. After a cold start the top radiator hose starts to get warm at two minutes and so do the small hoses that go to the throttle plate heater. After five minutes the throttle plate heater is to hot to hold my hand on. When I squeeze the top left hose I can feel and see the water surge in the filler tank. The bottom hoses will start to warm at about ten minutes. The top of the thermostat gets hot by five minutes the bottom at about ten. It will only overheat when it is setting at idle on a cold start and I don't let that happen. In normal driving conditions the fan kicks on when it should. I did put an auxiliary fan switch on the dash so I can run the fan when I am running the air conditioning. I will also be installing a new fan that I got from international auto parts when we get all the hay in the barn, lots of fun at 90 plus degrees. Thanks again for all the help. This is my third spider so I've been around the block a few times maybe I can help one of you some time.
