You can see that the flares are just screwed on therefore they do move and scuff the clear/paint underneath a bit so should be considered rather permanent - though personally I like the idea that they are removable for cleaning or other reasons, just don't plan to take them off for a show or something like that.
You can also see the nice merging of the front flare with the front lip spoiler - they are just screwed together with a metal clip on the back.
The wheel fender lip is certainly thick enough to just screw the VX flares on, though they are pretty light. I can't remember (or find a good photo) if they use a sheet metal screw directly into the wheel arch or if there is clip of some sort on the inside (directly screwed I think).
I recall there is something like 5 screws attaching each flare (plus the ones in the front that connect the flare to the lip spoiler).
