Radiator
Re: Radiator
well, don't pick my color. just washed my '80 for the first time this year, and i think we're looking at the last season. bubbles on the bottom of the driver door are nearly out of control, and there is another bubble growing large on the back side of the driver rear wheel well.
i am gonna start interviewing folks this spring & summer.

Re: Radiator
Mike, who's to interview? By the time Dave's car is painted, he'll be best around.
Dave, if you posted what color you're going with, I missed it. Have you decided yet, or is it a secret?

Re: Radiator
Its still a secret to me at this point, but it might be XXXSENSOREDXXX Besides, Mike told me I had to get back to my 61...
Re: Radiator
yeah, Dave will be first. Dang!
i am gonna interview some paint and body guys this spring. check out their work during the summer, and get estimates. then, if the stars and planets properly align, strip the car this winter.

Re: Radiator
OK, I had the radiator serviced (dipped and a minor leak in the upper tank sealed). Put it back into the car, things are better but still not right. Car seems to heat up in normal time, then runs slightly above 12 noon on the guage until I come to a stop, then when idleing for a long time starts to head to the RED ... I have a manual override for the fan, which has little or no effect on temp when the fan is on (this used to drop the temp fairly dramatically). As soon as I start up moving the car temp drops quickly to slightly above 12 noon on the guage.
Note: I've replaced both temp sensors in the guage electrical path last year (one was definitely broken) and I replaced the thermostat last year too. Chasing another Ghost...
I followed the "burp" process religiously... I've done it a couple of times in the past without issues.
Today I tried a little experiment when I was sitting at a red light (this is Atlanta!), temp getting hot, I revved the car up to 2-3K RPM to see what would happen to the temp. It started to fall off...
I'm starting to wonder if I have a weak water pump... Any clues/help/assistance?

Re: Radiator
instead of the burp procedure, try inserting a T-fitting into the heater core hose. this then becomes the high point of the cooling system, and virtually eliminates air pockets if used to fill the system.DMECMAnderson wrote:I followed the "burp" process religiously... Re: Radiator
Mike,
Don't tell me that's a garden hose I'm seeing there. Clamps go at the ends of the hoses not in the middle.

Re: Radiator
First my photo gets hijacked, then they start giving me shite about the plumbing
Both hoses are from Bruce. One happened to be green. I'm thinking about krackle finishing it
When removing the engine, I secured the clamp on the hose so I wouldn't lose it over the Winter.

Re: Radiator
Bernie has a John Deere tractor engine. His fiat is powered by the water pump and one of these: http://www.greenfunstore.com/Traveling- ... _2205.html
